 PROJECT:  AKC -SOKOLC   ( 2005 - 2018)

Picture

I was a leader and founder of alternative art place in small town in Slovenia.
Project Sokolc was my real time life school for future art development.
Building was deserted theater house called the house of nations from 1875.
There I learned many of art techniques like: painting, sculpturing, metal welding, air brush, tattooing, body painting and horror make up. I also gained a lot of leadership experience.

Project Sokolc ended when a mayor of a small town decided to evict all
artists and destroy the art work which was to big to save and transport in a day from the building after the eviction.
The town people did nothing to prevent the damage.  Here I also learned how wrong people on wrong positions, can destroy great  innovative
art ideas because of fear and plain stupidity.

Sokolc was involved in huge number of art project (visual art, music,...) as a alternative art collective it was a place for  number of artists and big number of other supporters. The  number of people who were involved in this art place in 13 years is impossible to describe in short description (for more info. there are links at the bottom).
We helped
with humanitarian crises in 2014 when floods hit Croatia, Bosnia and Serbia.
We delivered more than 33 tons of humanitarian help with 21 vans to most damaged places with help of donations of town people in 2014.
We also collected humanitarian help for refuges crises in 2017 and because of social media fear tactics, we were attacked 2 times with molotov cocktails for helping people by local racist kids...
The town officials didn't respond to help us
but instead decided to evict us.

The whole story is long to explain in few words so my very good friend and proffesional photographer Joao Sausa has a documentary in progress about project AKC Sokolc.

Neakademika

(pesem pesnika in člana AKC Sokolc - Janeza Bršca posvečena  umetnikoma
Nejcu Smodišu in Sebastjanu Šeremetu)

Ko roka v roko seže,
ko se talent s talentom združi,
ko pogled in dar vsem sanjam služi,
pot s potjo se veže.

Ko se vežeta poti brez cilja
in peljeta v polje sreče,
takrat je cilj prav vsaka milja
in za vsakim ciljem nov se vleče.

Ko je ena pot do zmage
in boj s platnom se začne,
jima svet deli laži, ukane,
a njunih sanj ne stre.

In v času, ko jima svet zadaja rane,
krona trnova je njun simbol,
vsako delo nas v dušo zadane,
ter upom mladim sta idol.

V sliki beremo jim čustva,
ter aspekt z vsebino,
načrtno zapeljevanje ljudstva,
ter vodstvo z giljotino.

Izvedba perfekcije slikarstva,
stoji na plodnih tleh,
ne zanimajo ju pota gospodarstva,
a ob akademstvu ju prevzame smeh.

Povedal bi, da smo le pleme,
ki vstalo je zato, da se bori.
Dodal bi še, da smo kakor otrok,
ki nikoli več se ne rodi.

Ko nekoč država vam kip bo namenila,
po možnosti skoparila za vsak cent.
Takrat z neba bo slišat glas:«Boljšega bi naredila!«
Tako zelo prepričana v svoj talent.

PROJECT-Live painting performance with
STROJ MACHINE
 (Slovenia) 2009)

Jaka Berger connected me and Nejc Smodiš to Slovenian industrial music group StrojMachine, which invited us to paint on their concerts. We made the first concert in Ljubljana (festival hall Cvetličarna) on April 4th, 2009. In one hour we manage to paint a 3000× 5000 cm picture hanging from the ceiling and painting downwards. Their second concert happened in Kranj (club IZBRUH – BAZEN) on May, 2009, where we painted two pictures on separated location in a squated pool. Third collaboration with StrojMachine was on festival “Trnfest” (August, 2009).

PROJECT - MORA TATTOO STUDIO start in 2016

My "on road" tattoo studio is named after my dog :)

MORA is my best friend in the world and my only companion in my life traveling. She is an old grandma now saved from Bosnia, she was found in garbage can in 2007. From that day on she is with me and enjoying life on maximum. I still don't believe in humans, but I do believe in dogs...
After mastering of conventional art techniques I decided to learn the art of tattooing using YouTube tutorials and personal visits of other tattoo artist. With a lot of work and study I managed to improve the existing drawing techniques from paper to human skin.
I'm still in the beginning of a long road ahead with tattooing. 95% of the tattoo motives a draw myself and I don't have catalogs. I have my imagination.

PROJECT - WACKEN 2015 (Germany)

On the Wacken 2015 in the W:O:Art tent the Slovenian artist Sebastjan Šeremet has presented a new piece of art and this picture was specially painted for the Wacken Foundation. The main motive is the Wacken logo and the skull symbolize the metal fans to thousands visit the festival every year.
This includes a sketch which was exhibited at the Artist Village and on the glass pane have the following bands members signed. The Boss Hoss, TSO, Cannibal Corpse, In Extremo and Sepultura.
The artwork was auctioned for private owner in favour of hard rock and heavy metal bands and artists.

PROJECT - TRIPTIH 1.0 (2012); TRIPTIH 2.0 (2014); TRIPTIH 3.0 (2017)  Sokolc (Slovenia)

Nejc Smodiš, Igor Obradinovič and me created the idea of painting art work in three peaces (triptych) live, for a duration of one month. The making of the art work was public event in the gallery of AKC Sokolc place where we had our art studios. The whole project included also a lot of local Slovenian musician who performed live in evening time. At the end of each Triptych project there was an auction of finished art work.
The pictures were sold to private collectors and companies for 2700€ in 2012, 3000€ in 2014 and 3300€ in 2017.
All the money went to families in need which were chosen by the Red Cross organization.

The artist didn't take a cent.

PROJECT - MASKS and CARNIVALS
(Slovenia, Croatia,Serbia and Germany)

Me and Nejc Smodiš started to make masks out of paper mâché out of fun and it developed over the years into more professional art work. We represented our self all around Slovenia on different festivals and also in Germany, Croatia, Serbia,...
At the end we were invited to Grossman film festival with SMK colective and Altera team in 2008, 2009 and 2011 with other artists. We also made a carnivals in home town and a cabaret in AKC Sokolc art place.
We did such a good job of making horror masks that often a lot of local "simple" town people accused us of occultism,...

PROJECT - WALL ART/GRAFFITI (Slovenia)

As a painter I always experiment to work on different surface. I started to paint walls since I was in kindergarten, today I'm making graffiti in clubs and alternative autonomous cones, squats and deserted buildings.
I don't consider myself as a typical graffiti artist because I'm using mostly air brush and rarely spray cans (it is much cheaper material to buy, specially for alternative places to use water based colors instead spray cans and it is much less polluting). It takes more time but results are more detailed and I don't like to use stencils too much (only for fire or smoke effect).

Some of this art is long gone but there are places where you can still visit :
Club - Kotlovnica- Kamnik;
Metelkova- Ljubljana;
Trainstation squat - Kranj;
Pekarna -MC- Maribor
